Programme

As globalization eradicates borders and digitalization prompts industries and societies to form closer and more fluid networks, a management mindset is becoming increasingly valuable, regardless of discipline. Musicians want to strategically plan releases, pharmacists need to consider entering foreign markets, and doctors are asked to manage budgets.

In this market, experts are those who combine in-depth knowledge of their industry with intercultural leadership skills, an understanding of organizational processes, and the ability to think economically, dynamically and based on solutions. If you want to become one of these experts but did not gain specialized economic expertise through your Bachelor’s study program, the Master’s program in International Management (M.A.) (for Non-Business Graduates) will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need.

This English-language program is right for everyone with a Bachelor’s degree in a non-business field who wishes to gain additional economic expertise or switch to a management career. The program provides a broad portfolio of economic and management skills as well as important intercultural and interdisciplinary knowledge. After graduation, you will have many career prospects in all economic sectors and in non-economic fields.

Job opportunities

After successfully completing the Master’s program in International Management (M.A.), you will have the wide-ranging expertise and business skills required to assume a management role with a global company, work for a non-profit organization or public institution, or return to the discipline of your Bachelor’s degree, with new talents that will allow you to shine.

With your interdisciplinary background and newly acquired intercultural competencies, you will also be well-equipped to coordinate your own teams. Potential roles include:

  • Management positions in small, medium-sized, and large companies
  • Upscale positions with international companies
  • Management positions in various departments and intercultural teams
  • Assistant to or spokesperson for the management or heads of department
  • Change management and management consultant
  • Consulting positions in NGOs or public institutions

Emphasis/Curriculum

The Master’s program in International Management (M.A.) (for Non-Business Graduates) aims to turn students into economic enablers. Whether you’re looking to go into marketing, HR or finance, you will not only have the economic expertise necessary to start your career, but will also know how to use this when identifying solutions. Management becomes both a skill and a way to think ahead, anticipating challenges but also facilitating change.

The Master’s program gives you an in-depth understanding of current economic and social challenges and teaches you to apply business measures in contexts such as society, technology, education, and culture. You will also learn how organizations work and how to communicate with multiple stakeholders inside and outside the economic arena in order to achieve long-lasting solutions. You will acquire skills such as:

  • Management essentials in a global context
  • Interdisciplinary project management
  • Advanced international management
  • German-language, intercultural and language skills
  • Economic thinking
  • Managerial economics
  • Finance for non-finance managers

Organisation

Hochschule Fresenius is a place where tradition meets innovation, teaching meets research, and theory meets practice. But above all, it is a place where people come together – students, lecturers, professors, and more – each with their own experiences, viewpoints, mindsets, and behaviors. As a private university of applied sciences, we want to give them all the space and freedom to evolve, grow and pursue their goals. In short, we want to be a GREAT PLACE TO GROW.

Hochschule Fresenius began life as the “Chemisches Laboratorium Fresenius” (Fresenius Chemical Laboratory) in 1848 and has evolved into a privately owned German university with a long educational history. It is the oldest educational institution of its type in the field of chemistry. It combines teaching, research, and practical experience exactly as envisaged by its founder, Carl Remigius Fresenius.

The Fresenius name is synonymous with practical teaching that is closely linked with applied research and development. This goes for all its faculties: The long-established Faculty of Chemistry & Biology; the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences; and the Faculty of Economics & Media, both launched in 1997/98; the Faculty of Design, which became part of Hochschule Fresenius in 2013; and the new faculty established in 2015 for distance and online learning.
